Challenge
Cranstoun is a UK-based charity founded in 1969. Its focus is to empower people to empower change to live healthy, safe, and happy lives. Its passionate and compassionate teams use their professional skills to work with young people, adults, families, carers and communities, providing a range of specialist services, including substance use, domestic abuse, criminal justice, housing support and wellbeing. Cranstoun is a social justice movement that campaigns for a much more inclusive and compassionate approach to the people they represent and advocate for.
Building on our longstanding partnership with Cranstoun, we supported them through a significant leadership transition. Our World Class Leadership Development programme was introduced to equip the leaders with the necessary tools to lead effectively and refine their collective and individual purposes. Guided by the principle of One Cranstoun, this initiative was designed to strengthen the leaders' leadership capabilities, ensuring they are well-prepared to achieve their goals and maintain alignment during this period of change.
Solution
We have helped them develop and deliver a highly practical and engaging programme for both participants and the business. It comprises an integrated sequence of four face-to-face modules and a variety of other learning methodologies, enabling more profound and more sustained application to the business. Some fundamental pillars to the programme make it a success.
We began by strengthening connections through exercises where leaders shared personal leadership journeys that shaped their commitment to Cranstoun. This established a unified approach to leadership, with everyone setting clear, actionable goals aligned with their shared purpose.
The leaders explored their core values, using advanced psychometric tools to enhance their adaptability and performance. We focused on evaluating each leader's strategies and approaches individually, identifying strengths and opportunities for development.
As the programme progressed, we concentrated on performance management, equipping the leaders with skills to set clear objectives, provide constructive feedback, manage underperformance, and effectively use recognition to motivate their teams. These sessions ensured leaders were well-prepared to drive both individual and team success.
We introduced leading frameworks for understanding and improving team dynamics, helping leaders boost collaboration and effectiveness. Additionally, tools were provided for delivering impactful recognition, mastering the art of running successful meetings and enhancing strategic and operational excellence.
